Good, but needs a competent editor.
By Torben K. Jensen
This book covers the Unity UI well, with very few omissions, and even dips into C# scripting. It's very adequate for getting started with Unity game development. I wish someone had proof-read it before it was published, however, since the amount of typos and grammatical errors slowed my reading of the text. If you are not bothered by that sort of thing, add another star to this review.

Worthy read
By Frieda
This is solid, usable, reasonable advice to achieve some important and specific goals, mainly maintaining your brain health as you age. This book discusses Alzheimer's, but also includes a discussion of how to avoid or reverse general cognitive decline and function so you can boost your memory and recall in just a few weeks. The information in the book is science based, well presented, and a pleasant and easy read. Dr. Barnard has a wonderful sense of humor and is able to explain complex subjects clearly without talking down to his reader.

My mother had a stroke a few years ago. When she was recovering, she said her greatest fear was not the possible loss of mobility or discomfort/pain, but the possibility that she might lose her ability to read and work with knitting patterns.

Last year I discovered Dr Barnard's other work and my mother and I went on the diet he outlines in his book 21-Day Kickstart Weight Loss 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart: Boost Metabolism, Lower Cholesterol, and Dramatically Improve Your Health. I wrote a review of that here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R38EXNJ7X5IP63/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_alt_1

That diet worked miracles for our health simply by changing our diet. This book will help us extend the benefits of that lifestyle to work miracles for our brain health by showing us what to eat and what to avoid.

Dr. Barnard writes in Power Foods about where brain toxins are found in our diet (interestingly, some of the toxins aren't necessarily things to avoid, but things that are a problem if we ingest either too much or too little, or even the wrong form of, for example, some metals). Dr. Barnard writes that just adding an ounce a day of seeds or nuts (for the proper form of vitamin E) will help reduce the risk of Alzheimers by 70%. Add berries, apples, pears, grapes, green leafy vegetables, and beans to your diet. Certainly things we can all do easily! Also, get rid of saturated fats. We all know we need to to this for heart health, and we need to do it for brain health as well.

The book also describes brain exercises as well as the benefits of physical exercise and gives some specific things to do. Just a half hour three times a week can make a huge difference.

And, very importantly for many of our aging population, what medications can be causing severe damage to our cognition. We found this to be true for my mother. We were able to get her off of her statins from adopting the 21-Day Kickstart diet, and that made a tremendous difference in her ability to think clearly and get rid of the "brain fog" that was following her around like the proverbial dark cloud. We have already made a lot of the changes he suggests in this book, but we are learning some new information to incorporate into our lifestyle, so I would recommend this book even for those who have read other of Dr. Barnard's books.

Finding the root cause of cognitive problems can be quite a riddle to solve. I know it has been with my mother. In this book, Dr. Barnard walks you through the variety of things that can be a problem. One of the important things he noted is that not only can medications impact mental function, and the problems can add up as you add more medications. As we discovered in my family, the doctors did not even consider this while medicating my mother, and we had to do the detective work on medications ourselves. Some of the biggest culprits include sleep medications, statins (cholesterol lowering drugs), anti depressants, allergy meds/antihistamines, anxiety medications, pain killers, blood pressure medications, and antacids. Some of these you can just trade out for another kind, but others you really need to see a doctor about and have it managed properly. Dr. Barnard discusses this and tells you how to address the subject with your doctor. We also called our pharmacist and asked him to take a look at what my mother was taking before we saw the doctor so that we arrived to the appointment as informed as possible.

In addition to medications, Dr Barnard discusses problems that can arise from other areas, such as food intolerances, depression, menopause (this was a big one for me!), thyroid problems, infections, migraines, cancer treatments, diabetes, and more.

There are about 75 recipes in the book. I haven't tried them yet, but they are by the same chef who created the recipes in the Kickstart book, so I expect these to be equally easy to make and quite tasty. Examples of breakfasts include blueberry buckwheat pancakes with veggie sausage and cantaloupe; waffles with maple "bacon;" and breakfast wraps. Examples of lunches include veggie falafel with pita bread and a garden salad; easy colorful pasta salad over mixed greens; English muffin pizza; and a Tuscan wrap. Examples of dinners include red lentil soup with brown rice salad and steamed spinach, tacos with potatoes, swiss chard, and pinto beans with a spinach salad and mashed sweet potato; white bean chili with red rice, steamed spinach, and banana ice cream; and baked ziti with a rainbow salad and strawberry dressing, and warm apple cherry compote. The recipes seem very simple to make without an excessive amount of ingredients or anything excessively costly.

I'd like to briefly address the criticism of Dr Barnard's plan that it can be too restrictive or drastic. It may seem that way with an initial look, but to me, loss of brain function and the prospect of losing mobility, cognition, emotions, and the toll that cognitive degeneration can cause on our families are what's really restrictive and drastic. Being bedridden or institutionalized for our later years is restrictive and drastic. Not remembering our children or being able to experience (or even remember) normal emotions is restrictive and drastic. And in light of those very real and unfortunately not uncommon possibilities, Dr Barnard's suggestions are neither restrictive or drastic.

Speaking as part of a family that started to make some of these changes about a year ago, they aren't initially easy (it can definitely be hard to give up some of the food we have gotten used to), but if you work at it a little bit at a time and just keep trying, it becomes easier and easier as time goes by (the book has a special section to help deal with food cravings and why we have them). It took way less than a year for our taste buds to change and for this way of life to become not only easy for us, but enjoyable.

This book adds to the vast amount of information already out there on the benefits of plant-based diets and is suitable for those who already consider themselves well-read on the subject--there is, of course, some information you will have already heard, but there is more information that is new and important and not available from other mainstream sources.

Thank you for reading my review. This is an important topic and I know it's hard for some people to think about some of the changes Dr. Barnard suggests. But it's very do-able.

This book merits being a reference book
By Alter Wiener
Dr. Neal Barnard, in his most recent book "Power Foods for the Brain," provides the reader with a lot of information about how to improve and maintain optimal brain health, and the entire body, as well. Dr Barnard suggests a plant-based diet such as fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes: "Foods can change your life." His advice stems from his life experience, from his practice as a physician and from his team's extensive research.

A good example is illustrated on page 82. Benjamin Spock, MD a well-known pediatrician, in his later years suffered from chronic lung problems. Also, a bout of serious food poisoning left him with chronic neuropathy, weakening his legs. His doctors at Boston Medical Center couldn't do much for him. Only a drastic change in his diet, replacing meat and cheese with vegetables and whole grains alleviated his health problems. Then, learning from his own experience, Dr. Spock began to advocate for a healthful diet in his revised book "Baby and Child Care." Dr. Spock lived till the age of ninety-five.

I am taking the liberty to share briefly my story. I am a Holocaust survivor. At the age of fifteen, the Nazis detained me in forced labor and concentration camps for a period of three years. I was beaten and starved. It left many physical and mental scars that never received any medical treatment there. I was liberated by the Russian army in May 1945. Their doctors gave me a thorough examination. I weighed eighty pounds, and they told me, "Sorry young man, your life span will not be long." I was 18 years old then; I am 87 now.

For many years after the war I was a very sickly young man. The most troubling ailment had been my inability to digest common staples of food such as meat, dairy products, etc. My stomach rejected and ejected them. I had been seeking and getting medical treatments; different diagnoses were made and a variety of medications were prescribed which did not help much. A co-worker once suggested to me to adopt his vegetarian diet. I took his advice; at the age of 41, I became a strict vegetarian and a teetotaler. I don't claim to know what the best diet for everybody's health is, but having reached the age of 87 I have a valid reason to believe that a purely plant-based diet is good for a healthy body and mind.

I learned a lot from POWER FOODS FOR THE BRAIN and I am highly recommending this easy-to-read book to anyone seeking to improve his/her health. I found many practical tips about specific foods and eating patterns to be very helpful in all aspects of health. I am grateful to Dr. Barnard for enhancing my knowledge with his knowledge. Advice from an MD lends special weight. This book merits being a reference book, and for me it will be.

O B V I O U S L Y -- R I G H T
By Bill McLean
This book is the best I have ever read on the subject of eating right. I got the Kindle version so I also have the X-way function. This gives background information on parts of the book that many readers may not know and page numbers where the subject is in the book for easily review. What a great way to enhance such a great book!

I'm a senior citizen, 74, and have been slowly improving my food choices for more than twenty years. With all the fairly recent discoveries of the benefits of certain foods, and the harmfulness of others, I have still made some mistakes. And even while I really was benefiting from my improvements. I had reasoned, for example, that fish high in Omega 3's was something to eat a lot of - along with supplemental fish oil capsules. Result, I have to take a med to control high blood pressure. This is not a complaint. I'm otherwise in good health. I'd be already dead if I hadn't made the diet and exercise corrections that I did make.

But,none the less, I should have known better. Long before retirement I worked in the laboratory of a 7th Day Adventist Hospital. They touted the benefits of a vegetarian diet. The Chief of Surgery was in his 80's. I was privileged to attend the weekly physicians meetings that provided a banquet of delicious vegetarian dishes. Many of these meetings involved differences in certain kinds of cancers between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I also saw a report on television - American groups that lived longest - yes, 7th Day Adventists vegetarians.

After reading Dr. Barnard's book, Power Foods . . . I think I'll make another try for perfection. I can't argue with his credentials, the facts he presents, or the clear and stepwise method. His 3-step plan seems simple enough and I think sufficient. The recipe section of the book will help. I've already adjusted my exercise for better safety and for better coverage of my whole exercise needs.

One of the great parts of this book discusses mental/chemical causes for obesity and addictions. For the first time I feel comfortable with my own understanding this process. Dr. Barnard writes clearly, simply, and does not confuse the reader with too much information. For me, this part may be the most important part. Now I have a better understanding of the central problem and can better control myself and my appetite.

Of course this book isn't just for seniors. I recommend it for everyone - everyone who wants to live long, stay in good health as long as possible, and (as a bonus) always be in control of their lives.

The Anticancer Diet: Reduce Cancer Risk Through the Foods You Eat, by David Khayat MD

With the huge number of studies on nutrition and cancer available, it's impossible for a person to sort through them all to come up with practical recommendations. Now, Dr. David Khayat, a world-renowned oncologist, has done that hard work for you.

In this international bestseller, Dr. Khayat provides easy-to-follow―and often surprising―guidelines on what are now known to be the foods most likely to reduce the risk of cancer. For those of a scientific bent, he explains what cancer is and how it develops. Bringing together his own research with that of other major cancer specialists, he breaks down what the studies mean, which ones provide the most solid evidence, and how to use their results in your and your family’s diet.

Structured by the major food groups―as well as supplements, beverages, and exercise―The Anticancer Diet may surprise you by not disparaging red meat but alerting you to find out the source of your fish and suggesting sole over salmon. While highly recommending commercial pomegranate juice, it cautions people with fair hair and eyes against drinking orange juice. What stage of life a person is at will also affect what they should consume. Pregnant women, older women, men, and children may process foods differently.

With numerous easy-to-read charts and tables along with a comprehensive food list at the back of the book, this accessible, user-friendly guide helps readers realize the power in their everyday choices.

With some tweaks, it'd be an ideal diet reference
By M. L Lamendola
For the typical American on the typical "let's get sick" diet, this book is a "must read." But it's not, despite the author's best intentions, 100% correct. With a few adjustments, however, it becomes an ideal reference. Dr. Khayat's writing style is highly accessible, and he makes every effort to be clear. His honesty and integrity are also important to him, and this shows in his writing.

Dr. Khayat brings a mix of sound nutritional advice and poor nutritional advice, in this book. For example, he is adamant about drinking a particular fruit juice. Ask an endocrinologist about that; these experts on what happens when you rapidly ingest sugar in liquid form won't even debate any alleged health benefits from fruit juice. They say don't touch the stuff, no matter what it might hold in health benefits because those will cost you in other, serious health deficits.

He advocates drinking cow's milk (except for men over 50). He is apparently unaware that the factory farmed cows who produce this milk all have mastitis. They are given antibiotics for this, which you drink in the milk along with the pus their infected mammaries pass into the milk. There are many reasons to not drink milk (other than organic milk). In his defense, things are done differently in France where his nutritionist resides.

I'm not a doctor of any sort, but I haven't been sick since 1971 despite having an immune disorder from birth (cured in my 50s, after my own research and blood tests confirm this). The difference is that at a very early age I took "you are what you eat" very seriously. That has really paid off.

Among his sound nutritional advice Dr. Khayat is very big on turmeric. He even mentioned combining it with pepper, something that multiplies (not merely adds) the cancer-killing effects of both spices. He did not mention that not only can you add ground turmeric to foods (which I do), but you can also consume turmeric capsules (which I do). He did mention to add it to "everything," which is good advice because if you're eating six meals a day you can intake turmeric six times (if you're eating only three meals a day, you need to assess your eating habits).

Generally where he's right is in his advocacy of eating many different fruits and vegetables and taking care how you prepare your foods. Generally where he's wrong is his misunderstanding of the frankengrains and their pernicious effects on health in general. If you combine this book with an authoritative book (or documentary) on the poisons we call "wheat" (it's not really wheat) and "corn" today, plus avoid fruit juices, you'll greatly reduce your cancer risk. Far, far more than he claims is possible.

And that brings me to another point. He gives great advice, except as noted. But he goes on, late in the book, to minimize the cancer-fighting effects of a sensible diet. He says a 50% reduction in cancer risk from food choices alone is absurd. He's wrong about that.

Here's why. About the only thing within your control is what you put into your mouth. You can not only reduce your self-inflicted risks to zero by eliminating toxic "food" from your diet, you can use real food to reduce risks that come from other sources.

If you look at the threshold a given cocktails of risks must add up to for the total risk to become serious, it's well above zero. We can all agree on that. The exact number varies by individual.

It depends upon your genetics, what's in your air and water, how you handle stress, what you wash your clothes in, and many other variables. It's the risk above this threshold that matters. If your threshold is 80% and diet accounts for 30% of risk, guess what? You can reduce your cancer risk to zero. It will remain zero until your threshold changes or some other risk factor increases so much your diet accounts for less than 20% (or some combination of the two).

We know there's a threshold, because in a given population in a given location most risk factors are identical. Some people get cancer, some don't. Only genetics and personal choices (in food, household cleaners, fabrics worn, etc.) can account for the difference. The people who don't get cancer might all have superior genetics to those who don't, but that is truly stretching things to say that's the reason. Personal choices must be at play, and common sense tells us that food is the most important of these choices (you are made of the food you eat).

Also, go to the grocery store and try this experiment. First, understand that how a body looks on the outside tells you a great deal about how well it's working on the inside. We gage this all the time; the ability to gage this is wired into our genes.

Step 1. Look for fat people (it won't be hard to find them). Then look in their shopping carts. You will invariably find most of what they are buying is a processed wheat product and you are unlikely to see any vegetables other than iceberg lettuce. They'll have sodas and nearly everything they buy comes in a can (Dr. Khayat also gives canned vegetables kudos, which is wrong unless you don't mind eating lead and aluminum), bottle, box, or other container. Common health advice is "read the label" but if it comes in something with a label on it, that's your first clue it's probably unsafe to eat.

Step 2. OK, now that you see how fat people eat, look for people with beautiful bodies and nice skin. The woman whose figure does Spandex proud or the guy whose chest is 14 inches bigger around than his waist. What is in their carts? Almost NOTHING that you find in the fat people carts. What you see in their carts came mostly from the produce aisle. And they have traditional oats instead of instant oats, no sodas, no snack cakes, etc.

Step 3. Go visit the produce aisle, and look at the people shopping there. Then go look at the people shopping in the snack aisle where the chips and soda are. This also speaks volumes on the "does food matter very much" non-question. It does matter. You are what you eat.

Dr. Khayat is highly credentialed. After having been suitably impressed by his Preface, I had higher hopes for this book. I think he needs to revise it, after carefully re-reading his own statement in the Introduction: "The truth is that our eating habits, in the broadest sense, are in fact responsible for many of the cancers we get!"

Exactly. And he should have hammered this point repeatedly instead of telling us at the end it hardly matters. Perhaps he "dialed down" expectations in response to the idiots and psychopaths who peddle hope with crazy diets, worthless (or even harmful) supplements (there are good supplements, too), and "treatments" that have no effect or that amount to slow torture.

He's correct that eating sensibly does not provide iron-clad protection; something can always enter the picture to change the normal equation such that your food can't balance it anymore. But to say that eating sensibly is going to give you only a little protection is grossly mistaken.

In a sense, his conclusion is correct because of the fact that (as he pointed out) cancers take a long time to grow from one single defective cell into a dangerous tumor. So if you have been eating from the snack and soda aisle for twenty years and then suddenly decide to eat sensibly you aren't going to be at 100% risk reduction in terms of getting a tumor. You've done the "cancer cell growing" thing for many years. It will take many more years before the results of that fade into nothing. But that is no reason not to start today. In fact, it makes starting today even more urgent.

Here is my suggestion for what to do with this book. First, buy and read the book. But remember that fruit juice is out, along with wheat products. Next, go through your pantry and refrigerator and toss out anything that's processed. Don't give it away to the poor; it's poison, so toss it. Chips, soda, beer, pizza, any "instant" foods, anything that's processed. If you have nothing left after this, that means you've been growing cancer cells and ingesting toxins that affect you in other ways than cancer risk.

Next, go to the grocery store and shop only in the produce aisle. After you get what you want, pick up whole grain rice and some dry beans (for the protein you'll need). Also buy several dozen eggs (Dr. Khayat recommends eggs, and he is quite right to do so). Buy any spices you want, making sure to buy plenty of turmeric. Eat only these foods for several months; for beverages, only green tea, coffee, or water. After you've given your body a few months of this, then re-read this book and see what foods you want to add into your diet. Given what's available on this "strict" regimen, you might not want to add anything. But this book is a great guide if you do (just no fruit juices or frankengrains).

The bottom line is you need to control and reduce as many risk factors as you can. It is possible to make "all good" food choices; I know, because I have been doing that for decades. It's not hard at all.

Making good food choices will just about eliminate your chances of getting any disease, including cancer. Doing that also has a very positive effect on your appearance. And there is also something to be said for enjoying the thousands of fantastic flavors in real food rather than limiting yourself to the two dominant flavors in the typical American diet: processed grain (sugars) and rancid fats.

The text runs 193 pages. There's a useful appendix that lists foods with their anti-cancer benefits or risks, followed by a glossary and a list of abbreviations. This book is well-researched; in addition to the subject matter experts who contributed, it has 29 pages of notes. These are followed by an extensive index. The index is followed by a 21-page resource called "Your Anti-Cancer Checklist."

Read with a fact checker
By Scott Rae
This would not be my first choice as an anti-cancer diet book. That choice would be Richard Beliveau's FOODS TO FIGHT CANCER. Beliveau's work is studying food compounds that show ant-cancer activity. His book has information that Khayat's doesn' t such as how long to brew green tea to maximize the extraction of catechins ( 10 minutes is much better than 3 minutes). Also, some green teas have much more EGCG than others. Beliveau lists them.. Beliveau says that there is a synergistic effect between EGCG and curcumin -- another anti-cancer food.

When is comes to broccoli Beliveau tells how sulforaphane is created when broccoli is chewed or lightly cooked (sulforaphane is destroyed by normal cooking). Beliveau also states that broccoli sprouts contain as much as 100 times as much sulforaphane as mature broccoli. BTW, broccoli sprouts are fairly easy to grow in an EasySrouter(TM) available along with broccoli seed from the Sprout People. My favorite book on sprouting is GARDENS AT OUR FINGERTIPS by Gene Monson available from Sproutamo. I mention this because there is currently a clinincal trial looking at sulforaphane and cancer. Also, there is another synergistic effect between sulforaphane and lycopene which is available from cooked tomatoes. Khayat doesn't mention these facts either.

Khayat does cover some topics that Beliveau doesn't such as drinking water and sweeteners. Beliveau's book was written before the pomegranate became an anti-cancer darling for some such as Khayat who says it is great -- drink as much pomegranate juice as you would like. I think the jury is still out on pomegranate. One problem with pomegranate juice is that it has a lot of sugar -- 36 grams in 8 ounces (about 240 ml). But, from the way Khayat writes he sees nothing wrong with sugar. Others point out that cancers need glucose to grow.

I'm not sure if Khayat is cherry picking the studies he chooses to cite or not. He is set against fasting for instance (in fairness to Khayat it is not standard care), but if you do an internet search on "fasting chemotherapy" or "fasting and cancer" you can find articles saying that fasting seems to improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiation and can decrease some of the side effect of chemotherapy.

Khayat is an interesting read. I am now glad that my daughter doesn't drink the tap water in San Diego, CA.

A Book About Cancer, Not Just Diet.
By George Steeg
"The Anti-cancer Diet" is much more than a diet book. About the first third is a primer on cancer and what we know about its causes. It concludes with discussions of the risks and benefits associated with common food groups. The second third covers cooking methods, supplements, activities and anti-cancer advice. The final third contains useful food tables, glossary, references, index, and a convenient tabular summary of the content in the first two-thirds.
Anyone looking for one book about cancer that emphasizes life-style risks and benefits including food choices, should own and read this book. Smokers must take a deep breath, buy the book, and take Khayat's advice: STOP SMOKING!
Full Disclosure: I'm not a patient. I've been a primary caregiver for two wives and for more than two decades. One wife succumbed to a rare cancer (less than U.S. 20,000 cases/year, no effective chemotherapy). My current wife has dodged three cancer bullets with surgery; the last one also rare. We're waiting and watching for aftermath of bullet #3.
The subject diet book by Khayat, and the recipe book "Cooking through Cancer" bought at the same time are my first cancer books. They came to our attention in reviews in The Washington Post. Before these books I learned about cancer from our doctors, from Internet resources going back to the bulletin-boards before chat rooms and social media, from local support groups and from medical-institution publications. I'm not a medical professional; I'm an engineer.

A Secret Order: Investigating the High Strangeness and Synchronicity in the JFK Assassination, by H. P. Albarelli Jr.

Reporting new and never-before-published information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, this investigation dives straight into the deep end, and seeks to prove the CIA’s involvement in one of the most controversial topics in American history. Featuring intelligence gathered from CIA agents who reported their involvement in the assassination, the case is broken wide open while covering unexplored ground. Gritty details about the assassination are interlaced throughout, while primary and secondary players to the murder are revealed in the in-depth analysis. Although a tremendous amount has been writtenin the nearly five decades since the assassination, there has never been, until now, a publication to explore the aspects of the case that seemed to defy explanation or logic.

A secret Order is a step outside of our socially created paradigm: What's a State Crime & Secret PSY ops have to do with it?
By James McDonald
This publication is most highly recommend for the positive identification of State Crimes (SCAD).

"It is so important to understand that one of the primary means of immobilizing the American people politically today is to hold them in a state of confusion and which anything can be believed but nothing can be known, nothing of significance, that is. And the American people are more than willing to be held in this state because to know the truth-as apposed to only believe the truth-is to face an awful terror and to be no longer able to evade responsibility. It is precisely in moving from belief to knowledge that the citizen moves from irresponsibility to responsibility..." (Barrie Zwicker, author of Towers of Deception: The Media Cover-up of 9/11)

To the point, this publication by H.P. Albarelli jr is one of the most valuable all while possibly the most disturbing work I've come across. Some of the other authors I've read previously that might help to qualify to others some of the emotionally difficult feelings and distressing insights I had to struggle with while reading parts of this could be reflective in what I read from Carol Rutz or John W. DeCamp. One of the other authors that comes to my mind while reading this work is Servando Gonzalez's Psychological Warfare and the New World, The Secret War Against the American People.

Even though there were times I became physically sick while reading this work by Mr. Albarelli, I do feel that this is one of those kinds of documents I would want to keep close and guard it like a title to valuable property or academic certification because of what this information really means and how this factual material affects you personally. With that said, I'll point out I'm not some sort of expert and most strongly recommend that you take anything that I might present in my review of Mr. Albarelli's work with a major grain of salt until you do your own home work. Additionally, my views do not assume any author's endorsement of the others work. If nothing else, my final 5 seconds to get your attention will point out that there's a line between what you might think you know, compared to what the facts are, reasonable justification to take a couple of more seconds to read on.

I'm reminded of a quote from a different author while looking at the big picture regarding this work and my justification on why I most strongly recommend this publication for deprogramming and to positively comprehend what a state crime is (and how it impacts the quality of your life) can be reflective by the author James Moore referenced in the publication Family of Secrets where he notes that "History is not what we know; it is what has truly happened." He then comments that, "Often the reality of events is hard to process because it shakes our system of beliefs. A crazy, lone gunman is a much more comforting notion in our democracy that a vast apparatus that can bring down presidents. Give us a simple expiation that easily encapsulates the horrible and then we can retain forever all that we have held to be true."

You won't find a fuzzy and warm feeling reading this book by Mr. Albarelli. In fact, I'll be specific in my feelings in that this profoundly disturbing work scares the hell out of me and I would look closer at someone that's sitting there rolling their eyes all while claiming this isn't nothing but some crazy conspiracy, a major red flag because the idea about a "wing-nut conspiracy wacko" is a Psychological disinformation Warfare program to undermine your rights as a human being. I will point out that the understanding of "conspiracy theory" is the foundation on why the Constitution of the United Sates was created in the first place. But again I'm no expert but I can point to someone that is regarding "conspiracies".

SCAD,(State Crimes Against Democracy)as presented by Dr. Lance edHaven-Smith, the professor of Public Administration and Policy and the Associate Director of the Florida Institute of Government, notes "...the SCAD construct does not refer to a type of allegation or suspicion; it refers to a special type of transgression: [an attack from within on the political system's organizing principles.]

"If I call you a conspiracy theorist, it matters little whether you have actually claimed that a conspiracy exists or whether you have simply raised an issue that I would rather avoid . . . I twist the machinery of interaction so that you, not I, are now called to account. In fact, I have done even more. By labeling you, I strategically exclude you from the sphere where public speech, debate, and conflict occur."

"The term "conspiracy theory" is no ordinary phrase. It was deployed to have a certain connotation by CIA technocrats who are trained to break people psychologically, destroy relationships, tear apart governments, stir up old hatreds. [5] These are scientists who are part of an organization that has overthrown powerful regimes and is partly responsible for the collapse of the Soviet Union. The reach of these people should never be underestimated." For more details about all of this and how Lance DeHaven-Smith explains his quotes noted, I most strong recommend his exceptional publication that will allow one to gain that much more understanding on what the Secret Order will reveal to you. It's a matter of a crime, that is, a state crime and the attempt to cover it up. (SCAD)

Conspiracy Theory in America (Discovering America)

A more expansive customer review regarding A Secret Order [is] difficult because of my own personal struggle with cognitive dissonance creates a lot of extra work to push through the socially constructed bubble I've grown up with. Regardless if it's by my own creation or I was born into a previously programmed game, I am an example of a well indoctrinated American that sort of "assumed" years ago there are some serious screwball elements that the Warren Report claims but it's only been within the last few years that I started to understand why John F. Kennedy died and why it matters. A part of my attempt to understand my own failure in not being able to express my confusion/disagreement with what my government has claimed previously is reflective in a few more publications I most strongly recommend that will give you additional insight on why The Secret Order is so important.

JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters
A History of Modern Psychology
Waiting for 'Superman'

Why I'm here and why am I recommending this author? Katrina, the MSM and the reactions of the leadership in Washington and the initial government's "response". The other primary reason is 9/11. Just a couple of other publications I've read in connection to this work is noted below. These are only few as there are many more I've reviewed that specifically connect to the publication, A Secret Order. The first one, American Heart of Darkness was the publication that brought me here to this work by H.P. Albarelli jr in the first place.

American Heart of Darkness: Volume I:The Transformation of the American Republic into a Pathocracy
The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity in the Global Drug Trade
The CIA Doctors: Human Rights Violations by American Psychiatrists
The CIA's Secret Research on Torture: How Psychologists Helped Washington Crack the Code of Human Consciousness
AIDS, Opium, Diamonds, and Empire

Oswald and the CIA: The Documented Truth About the Unknown Relationship Between the U.S. Government and the Alleged Killer of JFK

Specific quotes from the publication, Oswald and the CIA noted below:

1) "The story that a marine who defected and threatened to give military secrets to the enemy was judged to be of only "relatively low national security interest" is dubious. The fact that the HSCA was misled to adds a dramatic and tragic perspective to this cover-up, and impresses one with the lengths to which the CIA was prepared to go to protect the secrets that lay in Oswald's files. Spinning tales is not done for sport, but rather to protect secrets. Oswald's early files are astonishing to read. They establish beyond any doubt that the CIA had a keen interest in him from the very day of his defection."

2) "At least one member of the Warren Commission knew all about the U-2 program, as he might also have known what steps, if any, the agency took after Oswald's defection. Allen Dulles had been CIA director at the time of Oswald's marine service, and he remained director until Kennedy fired him at the end of 1961"

3) "In 1959, Nixon and Dulles had cooperated to defeat the State Department recommendations to recognize the Castro regime. "Castro's actions when he returned to Cuba," Nixon wrote twenty years later, "convinced me he was indeed a Communist, and I sided strongly with Allen Dulles in presenting this view in NSC and other meetings."2; The Vice President's performance at the next NSC meeting was memorable, even though it did not mention the ongoing discussion about assassinating Castro. As we have seen, Nixon chose this moment to articulate a new American policy toward Cuba, as recorded in the minutes of the December 16, 1959, NSC meeting"

4) "Oswald had been an aviation electronics operator and "may have had access to confidential info." Actually, Oswald had access, at a minimum, to secret information while stationed at Atsugi as a consequence of his radar duties there. This much could have been ascertained by no more than a simple phone call to Oswald's former commander at Atsugi, John E. Donovan. "He [Oswald] must have had [a] secret clearance to work in the radar center," Donovan testified to the Warren Commission in 1964, "because that was a minimum requirement for all of us."

5) "Oswald and his marine companions had walked patrol to guard a supersecret espionage weapon hidden in an airplane hanger. As a radar operator, he had also tracked this dark object with advanced height-finding radar equipment. This particular espionage weapon was then the single most important intelligence asset available to the United States. It was the one that produced the most critical intelligence on the Soviet ballistic missile program at the height of the missile bluff (1957-1960) crisis with Khrushchev: the U-2."

6) "The U-2 program was TOP SECRET and more, but it was no secret to the marines in Oswald's unit. They saw the planes, they tracked them, and they even communicated with them. That is, until Oswald defected to the Soviet Union, which was the target of the U-2s' espionage mission. The ballistic missile information these dark planes from Atsugi collected as they overflew the Communist giant was vital intelligence for U.S. estimates of the Soviet Union's ability to wage nuclear wars What Oswald knew of the U-2 program before his defection is therefore a matter that deserves close attention."

The other astonishing piece of information that I came across and I think is one of the most important from the publication noted: "By early 1960 a national intelligence estimate predicted that the Soviet Union would deploy thirty-five ICBMs by mid-1960, and 140 to 200 by 1961. In the end they deployed only four by 1961."

I've gotten good with my kindle and highlighting. I love the highlights and the notes they produce. I've made over a thousand highlight passages from this astonishing work by H.P. Albarelli jr. I will point out that I've read this publication 4 times now so there is a lot of duplication but I will just point out just two passages and why I most strongly recommend this book.

1. "Psychology is steadily working its way into the fabric of American society, with commerce and big business becoming well aware of the powers of mass marketing and consumer manipulation. The horrors of brainwashing and "enhanced interrogation" are becoming the vogue with the fellows in the intelligence community, and the high values of propaganda and media manipulation are skillfully molded into an art form and science within the same group."

2. "John Pic's subsequent assignment is extremely interesting because earlier, in April 1951, one of Frank Olson's killers was being held, pending deportation, in a cell on Ellis Island. Later, at the same time that John Pic was assigned to duty on the island, several major drug traffickers from France and Corsica were also being held at Ellis Island. They had been apprehended in a major Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) operation headed up by George Hunter White, acting as a dual narcotics-CIA operative. Illicit drugs impounded from these arrests were transferred to a secret holding compound in New Jersey where, according to CIA documents, the drugs were disbursed to various researchers under contract with the CIA, and to other unknown places. One of the French traffickers apprehended by White would be sent to a federal prison in Atlanta, where he would be subjected to intense mind control experiments. Multiple drugs were used during these experiments, including morphinum, dicain, and heroin. Readers may recall that some of these same drugs were discovered listed in John Pic's notebook in 1964. (Dicain, a strong local anesthetic, has never been available in the U.S. It can only be purchased overseas, and was used in Eastern Europe. In 1953-1956, the CIA experimented with the drug for possible mind-control uses.) Of equal interest is that during World War II, George Hunter White and a number of other FBN agents assigned to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), precursor to the CIA, worked very closely in New York City with Port Security and the Office of Naval Intelligence on what is now commonly called Operation Underworld. This was the top-secret project that involved freeing infamous gangster Charles "Lucky" Luciano from prison in return for his, and the Mafia's, assistance with security at America's ports and with the Allied invasion of Italy. All of the FBN agents assigned to work on Operation Underworld went on to become covert operatives for the CIA, and would become involved with Projects MK/ULTRA and MK/NAOMI."

There's one final publication/author I'm recommending as a part of this package. I understand that your mileage might differ regarding the final work noted below but I will remind the reader to take a close look at who was on Air Force 1 at the time Johnson was sworn in that afternoon. Who smiled at Johnson and who did Johnson look back at after the change of power was completed?

Bottom line, it's about a crime and the cover up.

Kennedy's Last Stand: Eisenhower, UFOs, MJ-12 & JFK's Assassination by Michael Salla.

Tks for taking the time and I hope I've helped.

Down The Rabbit Hole, Indeed...
By Petro
More than a valuable reference book, tying together a treasure trove of JFK, CIA, FBN, FBI and other alphabet lore (sometimes in novel ways,) "A Secret Order: Investigating the High Strangeness and Synchronicity in the JFK Assassination" is filled with "never revealed before" information unknown to even the most earnest "geeks" of assassination errata.

Hank teases characters from the shadows of his prior work - "A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments" - further documenting, for example, the white hat/black hat antics of the CIA's flamboyant LSD interrogator George Hunter White - a character one is grateful to have never met, but at the same time is filled with the most certain fear that there are versions of this White walking (and plotting) amidst us even today.

Albarelli indulges in no florid speculations in this work (at the same time eliminating a great deal of noisome fallacies,) and that is a fine bit of discipline considering, for example, how many times one Lee Harvey Oswald is documented brushing cuffs with the mind-control cognoscenti of MK/ULTRA and MK/NAOMI.

We come upon the 50th anniversary of the most controversial assassination of the most visible man in the world this November. One must draw one's own personal conclusions regarding this mystery, especially those of us of a certain generation. It would be short-sighted to do so without this volume.

It is a peculiar history indeed that the author of "A Secret Order" has preserved for us. These stories are about much, much more than the mystery of a Presidential assassination, and this book should be found on the shelf of any serious student of history.

Dangerous Thinking in the Age of the New Authoritarianism (Critical Interventions: Politics, Culture, and the Promise of Democracy), by He

Giroux probes the depth and range of forces pushing the United States into a new form of authoritarianism, one that connects the Orwellian surveillance state with the forms of ideological control made famous by Aldous Huxley. Addressing how neoliberalism, or the new market fundamentalism, is shaping a range of registers from language and memory to youth and higher education, Giroux explores how education in a variety of spheres is transformed into a type of miseducation perpetuated through what he calls a "disimagination machine"-one that reproduces the present by either distorting or erasing the past. But Giroux is not content to focus on how matters of politics, subjectivity, power, and desire are colonized through forms of miseducation; he is also concerned with the educative nature of politics as the practice of freedom and how the emphasis on critique must be matched by a politics and discourse of resistance, hope, and possibility. This becomes particularly evident in his chapters on Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn. Thinking Dangerously makes clear that at the heart of the struggle for a radical democracy is the reviving of the radical imagination as the basis for new forms of political and collective struggle. Probing these issues through a series of interrelated essays and important interviews, Giroux provides an accessible, layered, and sustained example of how thinking dangerously is central to and connected with the struggle over the radical imagination and the fight to fulfill the promise of a radical democracy.

Review
"Giroux's passion virtually burns up the pages. Giroux calls out the corporate, Orwellian forces destroying our ability to think-a dangerous activity in our authoritarian society. Watch out-this book might turn on the critical imagination circuits in your brain that Giroux argues are our only hope for building democracy." -Charles Derber, author of The Disinherited Majority and Sociopathic Society "In this outstanding book, Henry Giroux dismembers the violent extremism that seeks to dominate humanity. This book is a bracing, eloquent warning." -John Pilger, film director and journalist

Reawakening the radical imagination
By Tyler
Henry Giroux’s Dangerous Thinking in the Age of the New Authoritarianism is a powerful indictment of the brutal and punitive forces that have come to characterize the neoliberal conjuncture. Giroux here diagnoses what he refers to as a “new form of authoritarianism,” a characterization he arrives at through thorough analysis of domestic and foreign politics (and the symptomatic relationship between these politics, between the militarized violence in, for instance, Afghanistan and Ferguson), the assault on dissent, critical language and education (which we see in the corporate assaults on public secondary and higher education), the rise of the surveillance state (which was brought to light by Edward Snowden, and speaks to the death of privacy at the expense of an utterly narcissistic consumerism) and, perhaps most convincingly, the public pedagogical force he calls the “disimagination machine” (which refers to the market-based educative nature of neoliberal politics that erases or distorts history and pubic memory). Neoliberal authoritarianism, he notes in the opening chapters, is new insofar as it is a particularly dangerous combination of direct Orwellian omnipresent and omnipotent surveillance, monitoring and control, as well as the less direct but equally formative ideological and cultural apparatuses that make up Huxley’s frightening totalitarian dystopia. Combined, these two forces produce an entirely more threatening and overwhelming authoritarianism, one that erodes the space for private reflection and makes basically any form of critical thinking dangerous. Under the auspices of this new authoritarianism, Giroux argues, both formal sites of education (secondary and higher education), and less formal modes of public pedagogy have been reduced to “dead zones of the imagination.” To counter this and to reclaim the hope of democracy in the US, Giroux calls on academics to embrace their roles as public intellectuals in order to begin to once again cultivate what he calls “the radical imagination.” This is necessary, he suggests in the final section of the book, in order to begin to hold power accountable for the structural violence wreaking havoc on the lives of poor, racialized, and “disposable” populations in the US and elsewhere, and to rebuild a better society around our “shared responsibilities” and not our “shared fears.” I recommend this book to students, scholars, public intellectuals, activists, artists and really anyone concerned about the diminished state of democracy throughout the world.

Crucial Reading
By WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot
In the past year Giroux has begun an important and highly original analysis of the dangerous decline in thinking. Dangerous Thinking builds on the groundbreaking work in The Violence of Organized Forgetting. These books are crucial for understanding the shaping of consciousness in neoliberal culture and they explain why we are living at such a dangerous historical moment. They point the way towards making a better more informed, reflective and thinking polity.
