Virtuoso Classical Guitarist

My review of this book comes not only from someone who enjoys reading books, but from someone who is a classical guitar enthusiast, and who has studied the master works of Francisco Tarrega. Having said this, I would recommend this particular book to anyone out there interested in learning the classical guitar, as well as those who are classical guitarist, and who want to learn more about the life of this iconic and historical virtuoso of the classical guitar. The biography is written by Emilio Pujol, a student of Francisco Tarrega and a well known and famous classical guitarist on his own. The book is beautifully written, translated in English from the original Spanish version, the book is full of rich tonalities and subtle language that at times reads like a melody from a classical guitar. A simple and delightful reading for anyone interested in learning about the evolution of the guitar. The book is full of personal anecdotal information about the life of Francisco Tarrega. This is a must read for those serious about learning the classical guitar and for those who are interested in the life of one of it's most prolific players.

Welcome translation of a classic work

The essential biography of the great T�rrega was for years only available in Spanish. In recent years it has been superceded by Adri�n Rius' biography, which is more accurate, more detailed, and more judicious in its judgments. Still, Pujol's book is a classic, worth having if only to understand how T�rrega's career and achievements were viewed in the 20th century, and how he earned the adulation of his disciples and of posterity. And it's good to have it in an English translation at last.

Excellent

I enjoyed this read immensely. It was well researched and wonderfully written. My only complaint was that it came in Kindle (eBook) form only.
